A delegation from the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) visited UIC on 1 November 2023 for further communication and cooperation between the two universities.

HKBU's Council Chairman Dr Clement CJ Chen led the delegation together with Deputy Chairman Mr Paul WY Poon, and Treasurer Ms Rosanna Choi Yi-tak. Senior officials of HKBU, including President and Vice-Chancellor Prof Alexander Ping-kong Wai, Provost Prof Martin DF Wong, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary Ms Christine OW Chow, and Interim Chief Innovation Officer Prof Terence LT Lau joined the visit.
Dr Clement Chen expressed his appreciation for UIC's achievements in recent years. He said that the HKBU Council is committed to enhancing the quality of education at UIC and supporting its development in all aspects and will seize the opportunity to learn more about UIC's needs and potential for future cooperation.

Prof Alexander Wai mentioned that the "One University Two Campuses" project will ensure that students from HKBU and UIC will have an excellent study experience, and the Extended Study Programme will enable HKBU students study in the Greater Bay Area while UIC students come to Hong Kong to attend classes.

UIC President Prof Tang Tao warmly welcomed the delegation and looked forward to the collaboration with HKBU and valuable advice and support from the Council. He later introduced UIC's educational philosophy and current status to the guests. Other senior staff also summarised the characteristics and achievements of UIC's Faculties and Schools.

The delegation toured the first-phase and second-phase campuses and got to know about UIC's academic facilities, paying visits to the Learning Resource Centre, the Sports Complex, the Math Zone and dormitories.




Students were also invited to exchange views with the delegation on studying and daily life. The guests also introduced to the students Hong Kong's talent admission policy and the prospects of related industries, and gave advice to the students on their study and career planning.
