The 2023 Campus News Awards (CNA) by China Daily announced UIC students brought home 13 awards, including Best in News Reporting, Best in News Writing, Best in Feature Writing and more, 12 of which were in the English category and one in the Chinese category. UIC also won the Most Active Participation Award.


The participating students were proud to be part of the competition and expressed their gratitude towards their instructors. They said the competition had harnessed their professional skills in news writing and familiarised them with the full process of news production. It had also deepened their understanding of journalism and critical and independent thinking.

This is the twelfth year that CNA has been organised, and more than 100 senior media professionals, university journalism professors, and professionals from relevant government departments were invited to act as judges. This year, it has received over a thousand entries in English and Chinese prepared by more than 3600 participants from 84 institutions from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The numbers of participants, institutions and entries were all record-high.
