UIC 20th anniversary marks launch of "Global Talent 100 Scheme"

Published on 7 January 2025

As UIC is stepping into its 20th anniversary and embarking on a new phase of development with a steadfast vision, it aspires to become a leading liberal arts university in China and beyond.

To strengthen its academic community and further its commitment to excellence, UIC is about to launch a three-year plan, the "UIC Global Talent 100 Scheme", spanning from 2025 to 2027 to attract and onboard 100 distinguished professionals.

Leadership development is one of the scheme's key objectives. To enhance its academic standing, UIC aims to attract 20 discipline leaders. The selection criteria include a doctoral degree from a reputable institution, demonstrable excellence in research, significant influence in their discipline, and a current position at the level of Professor or above.

AI innovation is also highlighted. To tackle the new social trend, UIC plans to form a 20-person AI team to advance its curriculum and train existing staff in AI applications.

Faculty recruitment and development is another crucial aspect of the scheme. UIC highlights the strategic development of its academic disciplines and the establishment of a talent echelon. It aims to recruit emerging scholars with high potential research capabilities, from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor level, who have demonstrated significant achievements or high potential in their respective fields.

International diversity is also emphasised. UIC is committed to fostering a diverse academic environment, preparing students for a globally interconnected world. Through this initiative, it aims to achieve at least 30% representation of overseas staff.
