NECCS is one of China's largest and most widely participated in national competitions, aimed at assessing the overall English proficiency of university students. The BNBU students were guided by Dr Zhang Xueshan and Ms Wang Lu from the English Language Centre of the School of General Education.

Previously, Wang Ziheng also ranked first in the provincial semi-final for Guangdong of the 2024 "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" "Understanding Contemporary China" National Foreign Language Proficiency Contest for College Students - Public Speaking Competition.

Reflecting on his latest win, he said: "This honour belongs to my university, my teachers, and my family. I'm especially grateful to my advisor Dr Zhang and team leader Ms Wang! I will continue to turn my passion into greater progress."

First Prize winner Wang Yihan shared that the competition deepened her love for English and strengthened her determination to continue learning: "I've come to realise that English is not just an academic subject, but a window to understanding the world and a bridge to connecting cultures." She hopes to carry this enthusiasm forward and use English to explore a broader world.
