Published on 22 November 2023

UIC's Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) hosted the first Conference on Transport and Supply Chain Resilience and Digital Transformation on 14 to 15 November 2023, gathering scholars and experts from Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shaanxi, Liaoning, Hong Kong and more to discuss the new directions and perspectives of transport and supply chain resilience research in the era of digital transformation.

UIC Provost and Honorary Vice Chairman of the Conference, Prof Patrick Chau, introduced UIC's recent development and achievements to the guests in his opening speech. He mentioned that as a liberal arts university, UIC focuses on teaching and has made great strides in research.

UIC Vice President (Research and Development) and Dean of Graduate School Prof Jia Weijia further described UIC's research development. He said that UIC has established several provincial laboratories and research centres in related fields. FBM's labs and research centre are under construction, and more cooperation and communication with various units are expected.

Acting Dean of FBM and chair of the Conference organising committee, Prof Adolf Ng, said that transport and supply chains around the world are currently facing various potential risks, especially the lack of reliable methodologies to enhance the resilience of supply chains. This conference aims to explore and quantify the risks and establish new theoretical and methodological frameworks for developing strategies for resilient transport systems in the digital transformation era.

The meeting invited ten experts and scholars to present their reports and share views on related topics with each other.
