UIC and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School build high-quality student base

UIC and Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School held a signing ceremony to build a high-quality student base in the school on 26 April. In addition, the two parties reached a consensus on education, teaching, talent transfer, training, and resource sharing. President of UIC and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof Tang Tao, was invited to give a lecture.

At the ceremony, President Tang, together with Party Secretary and Principal of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School, Lin Jialiang, signed the cooperation agreement between the two sides and exchanged commemorative gifts. Member of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Secondary School Party Committee and Vice Principal Liang Shifeng presided over the ceremony with teachers and students.

President Tang Tao gave a lecture about how mathematics promotes modern technology. He focused on mathematical aspects and talked about the vital role mathematics plays in modern technology, especially in information technology.

President Tang mentioned that mathematics is heavily involved in life and work, significantly improving humans' ability to solve problems. In addition, mathematics has dramatically improved the efficiency of human labour. He encouraged students to love mathematics, learn mathematics well, and make good use of mathematics to contribute their ingenuity to the development of modern technology.
