UIC held the 8th Appreciation Ceremony in the University Hall on the birthday of China's most famous teacher and philosopher, Confucius (28th September). During the ceremony, students served tea to their teachers and bowed as a sign of respect and appreciation.

The ceremony began with three rounds of drumming. Then, the teacher dressed the students. During the ceremony, students serviced tea and bowed to teachers. Finally, students read out passages to show their respect and appreciation towards their teachers.

Provost Prof Chen Zhi said during his speech that he hoped students could appreciate traditional Chinese culture and continue the virtue of respecting teachers.

In the following stage, teachers and honoured guests gave return gifts to students.
Student representative and fourth-year Environmental Science (ENVS) student, Peng Zigui, shared her experiences with Culture, Creativity and Management (CCM) lecturer, Ms Wan Wanqi. Zigui got encouragement from Ms Wan and decided to choose tourism, the field that interested her, for further study. To show gratitude to Ms Wan, Zigui invited her to the ceremony. Ms Wan also said in her speech that a good relationship between teachers and students is essential.
