Since 2011, UIC has cultivated a profound Hall Culture that holds diversity and makes students feel at home.
An annual high table dinner for discussing the future direction of hall culture was arranged on 10 November 2021. UIC Provost Prof Chen Zhi, Vice President (Administration) Prof Mao Yaqing, Academic Registrar Prof Li Jianhui, Managing Director for Finance and Administration Mr Nelson Chan, Director of Whole Person Education Office Prof Guo Haipeng, Chief of Student Affairs Officer Prof Johnston Wong and wardens of eight halls attended this event. The members of the Student Hostel Council and resident student tutors were also on the site.

Prof Chen looks forwards to the development of hall culture at UIC
Hall culture plays an essential role in UIC cultural cultivation, and the effort of the Student Hostel Council should not be underestimated. There will be more room for hall culture to grow and explore with a second-phase campus on the way. The construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is also an advantage UIC can enhance this process.

Each hall arranges various activities from time to time, such as poetry contests, parties, etc. In addition, resource sustainability has been a hot topic in recent years. Since the middle of October, each hall has held a competition to save electricity and turn off the lights for one hour, which teachers and students have well received. These activities intend to help students become more aware of their social responsibility as citizens.
Prof Johnston Wong attaches great importance to the continuity of hall culture. Therefore, staff and students should all involve in the process of cultivating the hall culture.

Student representative Cai Yidi from Student Hostel Council gave a speech during the high table dinner, addressing the significance of the Student Hostel Council as a bridge between the college and students.
