Published on 3 July 2022

The flow of time keeps running along with the seasons' changing. Four years have passed since the class of 2022 first stepped into the UIC campus.

Before bidding farewell, some representatives would like to share their memories, which are gilded with joy and happiness.

After finishing her last experiment in the lab, Liu Yixuan in the Food Science and Technology Programme told us that she became more composed to mistakes and accidents.

She said: "I realise that failure is our common partner in the lab. So don't be afraid of it, but learn from it."

Deng Bowen in the International Journalism Programme said she was grateful that she had conquered the timidity of publicly sharing her ideas.

"Studying at UIC requires one to do lots of presentations," she said, "and it practices my logic and bestows me confidence."

When commenting on her study experience at UIC, Kong Lingbing in the Applied Economics Programme said: "Teachers are always there to support you when facing academic problems."

She told us that her supervisor, Dr Darren Weng, had provided her with instant and helpful instructions for her graduation thesis, calming her nerves down, so that the thesis was written and polished as scheduled.

The diverse events held at UIC have helped Xu Xinyi in Applied Translation Programme enhance her skills in interpreting.

After her last interpretation for UIC's foreign guests, she was greatly praised and encouraged. She said, "Endless pieces of training shape a good interpreter, and studying at UIC has given me chances to practice constantly."

Students at UIC are cultivated to be all-round. They can master stages in the academic areas and also entertain themselves with the beauty of life, such as melody, sports and cooking.

Lin Jing in the Cinema and Television Programme is a member of the UIC Orchestra.

"I'm glad that I have found the bunch of music lovers at UIC," Lin recalled their last performance at the Graduation Concert in April. "We promise each other to get together and play later too."

Zhang Shuhang in the Applied Economics Programme is also a music fan, and he is often found at UIC's recording studio.

"In 2021, I released my first solo album, which was mostly recorded in the school piano room or dormitory," Zhang said. "All these memories will be cherished for the rest of my life."

Tang Jingru in the Media Arts and Design joined UIC's Frisbee Team in her first year.

She enjoys training with her teammates and witnessing the team's growth, and she will carry the spirit of this sport with her: "Be real, be organised, and be strong."

As for He Zeyuan in Food Science and Technology Programme, he will remember the last dinner party he had with his schoolmates:

"That was the last time we cooked in our dormitory, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was good. We will keep it in memory even after graduation."
