The 8th Fu Chong Youth Entrepreneurship Forum was held at UIC on 22 November 2023, gathering entrepreneurs, alumni and representatives of organisations and institutions, including the Chairman of the Wah Sang Group and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, Mr Shum Ka-sang, and a UIC alum and young entrepreneur, Mr Xu Chaoyang, to share their stories in entrepreneurship with the guests and students.

UIC President Prof Tang Tao attended the Forum and pointed out that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is full of energy and opportunities. He introduced UIC's endeavour in talent cultivation and technological innovation and urged students to stay calm, positive, resilient and critical towards the future.

As the Chairman of the Wah Sang Group and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, Mr Shum was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government this year. He shared his stories of setting up his own business in Hong Kong and encouraged the youth to jump out of the box when facing changes and challenges. He also mentioned that locating the right path with suitable partners is essential for entrepreneurship, and one should maintain good spirits and take social responsibility.

Mr Xu graduated from UIC's Statistics Programme in 2012 and is the Director and President of Invengo, a global RFID and IoT solution provider based in Shenzhen. He exemplified the company's cooperation with Disney on the "Magic Passport", introducing the idea of using IoT technology to provide novel solutions for scenic spots. He recalled his study time at UIC and appreciated the knowledge he accumulated and the friends he met here, who also became his business partners and his life partner.
