UIC held an Online Open Day with the theme of ‘Integrating education from the East and West through the modern and ancient world without going abroad’ on 17 May. This event allowed potential students and their parents understand the College's development plans, educational philosophy and admission policies.

UIC President Prof Tang Tao talked about the development of the College in a live broadcast. He explained that in the past year, the College has focused on enhancing academic strength, upgrading the faculty, strengthening international partnerships, deepening cooperation with parent institutions by jointly building research centres, and establishing more industrial-university-research projects.

President Tang mentioned the College has signed an agreement with Zhuhai high-tech zone on the management of the new Sports Park. Currently, UIC is working with the Zhuhai government to build the second phase of UIC campus, which will contribute to the deep integration of UIC with the surrounding ancient villages.
Provost Prof Chen Zhi gave a lecture on Liberal Arts Education. He mentioned that UIC is the first liberal arts university in Mainland China. Although it is a concept imported from the West, UIC has made successful attempts at integrating Chinese elements in the past 15 years. From courses to student clubs, UIC has allowed students to be exposed to the influence of Chinese culture, absorb Chinese wisdom and promote the spirit of Chinese culture.

Prof Chen believes that in liberal arts, Chinese education and internationalised education are parallel and mutually reinforcing. Every year, many graduates go to world-renowned universities for further study and are therefore ambassadors who can spread Chinese culture and wisdom.
Ms Mary Lin, Director of the Admission Office at UIC, explained about admission policies and scholarships to the audience.
This year, UIC will recruit 1,900 Mainland students from 30 provinces across the country.
