Professor Tong’s speech topic was titled ‘Bitcion, Trust, Innovations and Economic Growth’, in which he discussed bitcoin and blockchain. He elaborated on how the blockchain appears to build “trust” on a “trustless system”, and how this trust affects economic growth and Fintech innovation. “The current digital revolution has indeed brought prosperity and innovation to mankind, but without trust and credit, transaction costs can be high, and can sometimes jeopardize the economy,” he said.
