UIC’s Graduate School offers seven research postgraduate programmes leading to MPhil and PhD degrees. Applications for these programmes are open throughout the year.
The graduate programmes provide not only an international teaching environment but also rich subsidies. Students will be awarded a degree certificate from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) upon graduation.
Programmes with PhD and MPhil degrees include Accounting and Business Management, Biology, Chemistry, Communication, Computer Science and Technology, Economics, as well as Mathematical Statistics.

Coursework
MPhil students are required to successfully complete a minimum of 12 units of coursework including three units of mandatory common core courses, while PhD students need to complete a minimum of 15 units of coursework including three units of mandatory common core courses. Both MPhil and PhD students need to achieve a minimum GPA score of 2.67 to be considered satisfactory fulfilment of coursework requirement.
The required Mandatory Common Courses must be taken at HKBU and completed before confirmation of candidate. Other courses may be taken at HKBU or UIC.
Degree
Students who successfully graduate from the programme will receive a degree certificate from HKBU. HKBU is a public research-oriented comprehensive university fully funded by the Hong Kong SAR Government. In the 2019 World University Rankings announced by QS, Hong Kong Baptist University ranked 65th in Asia and 277th in the world.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Tuition for Each student is 90,000 RMB per year. There are two types of scholarships: full-prize scholarship (waive all tuitions) and half-prize scholarship (waive half of the tuitions).
Also, UIC provides 3,750 RMB per month for PhD students and 2,500 RMB per month for MPhil students as financial aid. In return, students who accept this financial aid need to work as teaching assistants with working hours no longer than 10 hours per week and 300 hours per year. More financial aids can be provided if the students work as research assistants.
UIC also offers financial aid for a student apartment. The room accommodates two people with a fee of 6,400 RMB per year. Students can waive their apartment fees if they work as a Residence Mentor.
Postgraduates can receive financial aid for visiting Hong Kong. During the period of study, students are required to complete some of the courses at the HKBU and conduct research under the guidance of the instructor (for a total of six months). During this period, the school will provide an additional living allowance of HK$3,000 per month for each student.
In addition, UIC provides research funds if they need to go on a trip, attend academic conferences, collect data, purchase books or library-free learning and research materials, and edit papers for academic purpose.
