At the 9th UIC International Postgraduate Education Information Fair on 26 October, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between UIC and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), US.

The Dean of School of Education at VCU, Dr Andrew Daire, who is currently in his third year as Dean, signed the MoU with UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai.
Dr Daire explained that VCU focuses on community-engaged learning and that this is his first time at UIC, and second time in China. He plans for VCU to globalise and expand further.
Dr Daire says he is impressed with the students at UIC, and he described them as thoughtful and well prepared. He mentioned how he has even met some students before at an international conference.
The VCU Dean also wants to establish MoU’s with selective universities, as opposed to just having multiple MoU’s. He also wants to form strong relationships for future exchanges, which he listed as UIC students studying abroad at VCU and vice versa as an example.
VCU is interested in exploring more of UIC’s new graduate programme, along with incorporating possible internships and learning opportunities. In addition, with this agreement, UIC students would not have to take the GRE for entry to VCU.
