UIC’s team received the Second Runner-up Prize at the South China Section of the 2018 HSBC Mainland China Business Case Competition in Guangzhou on 22 April.

Ten teams from nine universities in south China participated, including competitors from Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Sun Yat-Sen University, and South China University of Technology.
On 10 March, the Division of Business and Management (DBM) held an internal competition. Luo Yingzhen (Finance/Year 4), Jiang Fengting (Accounting/Year 4), Liu Jiaxin (Finance/Year 4) and Wang Silu (Finance/Year 4) were selected to represent UIC to attend the competition in Guangzhou.
The competition on 22 April consisted of two rounds, with each team receiving business cases in each round. They were required to analyze those cases in closed discussion rooms, and to propose solutions to problems in the cases within a limited time period. Afterwards, judges would present feedback and comments on the teams’ performances.

Students in the competition
The design of this competition aims at testing the comprehensive capabilities of students, such as their knowledge, analyzing abilities and use of English.
DBM professors who guided the students include Dean of DBM, Prof Stella Cho, Acting Associate Dean of DBM, Prof Uchenna Eze, the Programme Director of Finance, Dr Minyu Wu and Acting Programme Director for E-BMIS, Dr Darren Weng.
This competition was jointly held by HSBC China and the Shanghai United Foundation, and supported by the Asia Case Research Centre at the University of Hong Kong.
