The Concert for the UIC New Campus Inauguration Celebration was held in the UIC University Hall on 25 November. The concert invited the UIC Soloists and the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Symphony Orchestra to perform.

President of UIC, Prof Ng Ching-Fai gave a short speech to start the event. Prof Ng said “Tonight we are most delighted to have on our new campus the Symphony Orchestra of Hong Kong Baptist University, our mother institution, our staunch supporters and our bosom friend.” He welcomed the HKBU Symphony Orchestra to the campus as well as welcoming the debut of the UIC Soloists.

Many staff and students show up to watch the performance
The conductor of HKBU Symphony Orchestra, Law Po Kwan, praised the concert, saying “It is brilliant, the audience had a warm reception, plus the stage effects were superb.” She also spoke highly of the new campus saying “I think the new campus is really beautiful, it will have a pretty start. Meanwhile, I think this concert was advertised well and I believe the music programme at UIC will have a booming and brilliant future”.
The harpist of HKBU Symphony Orchestra, Chan Patricia Tsz Ki, a Year Four student from HKBU, said she felt very in sync during the orchestra’s performance and that she has really enjoyed her four years of playing with the orchestra.

The audience sang high praise for the performance. One student from UIC mentioned how they thought it is a great opportunity because the concert promoted the exchange and cooperation between UIC and HKBU. Another UIC student, Zhao Rongyang, said she enjoyed the concert, saying “It is like a feast of sound. I really loved the concert. I see a bright future for the UIC Soloists.”
