On 29 November, the Centre of Foreign Languages and Cultures (CFLC) of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS) hosted the International Culture Festival in the Staff and Student Activities Centre (SSAC). All six cultures from the CFLC were represented: French, German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Russian.

There was a fantastic set-up, with different stalls offering each country's traditional food and drink. Additionally, there were cultural songs and dances performed by UIC students. There were plenty of activities at the event, which started with a German cooking workshop that was organised in cooperation with the German student club. The festival’s aim was to celebrate the new beginnings of UIC on the new campus and enhance the harmony between students and staff while sharing in the different cultures.
The President of UIC, Professor Ng Ching-Fai, opened the festival by giving a speech focusing on how it is important for students of UIC to become global citizens. After, various students sang classical and modern songs from different countries, while other students reenacted scenes from international TV shows. After the performances, there was plenty of food available for everyone to try ranging from cakes to mashed potato and sausages. There was something new for everyone to experience at this event.
Many staff members made this event possible including the coordinator of CFLC, Dr Arum Kim.
