
The Division of Business and Management (DBM) Advisory Committee looked at the recent graduates’ survey and discussed DBM’s new programme at its eighth meeting on 19 June.
The meeting was convened by DBM Dean Prof Stella Cho and presided over by Chairman Mr Tim-Leung Lui, Senior Advisor of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Members present included Ms Carrie Leung, CEO of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers; Ms Maria Lee, Head of People, Performance and Culture, KPMG China; Mr Gang Luo, President of Lingao Yi He Wan Limited; Mr Bernard Wu, Honorary Chairman of Qianhai SAR Private Equity Investment (Shenzhen) Limited; as well as internal members Prof Wilson Li, Director of the Applied Economics Programme; and Dr Charles Chow, Acting Director of the Marketing Management Programme.

DBM is going to offer a new BBA Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme in the academic year 2017-2018, which focuses on nurturing graduates with an entrepreneurial mind-set and relevant knowledge in the innovation-driven economy.
According to the survey on the UIC graduates of 2016, 59.1% of them opted for further studies, 24.5% secured full-time employment, and others started up their own businesses as well as participating in voluntary services.
Another survey that was conducted before the graduation ceremony showed that 60.7% of the DBM Year Four students this academic year have received offers from graduate schools while 15% have already received job offers.

The committee members suggest the Division should enrich the internship programme and ensure more students to gain practical and professional experience during vacations. Teaching, research and industrial cooperation is also an area that can strengthen the teaching and learning quality.
