“Every time we visit UIC it always surprises me,” said Dr Kevin King Fai Hung, Assistant Professor of the School of Science and Technology at The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK).

Dr Hung and his colleague led 22 OUHK students, who are members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) OUHK Student Branch, came to UIC and met with its students on 14 and 15 March.

They were treated to visits to UIC’s 3D printing lab as well as food and science technology labs. Also they went on a trip to Print-Rite, a world leading company in the aftermarket printer consumable industry located in Zhuhai. The visitors were impressed by the development of the industry in mainland China after seeing the production line of 3D printers and 3D printing products.

The OUHK students praised the tour for having deeper insight into 3D printing as well as UIC’s liberal arts education.

Dr Hung said that due to the international atmosphere at UIC, the Hong Kong students could broaden their horizons. He hoped more visits like this time would stimulate mutual development and collaboration of 3D printing projects in Hong Kong and mainland.
