At the 2016 HKICPA QP Case Analysis Competition held in Beijing on 4 December, a team from UIC’s Division of Business and Management (DBM) won the Second Runner-up. Another team received the Best Written Report as well as the Merit Team Award. A third team from DBM also captured the Merit Team Award.

This QP competition was organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certificate Public Accountants and consisted of 377 teams from top universities in mainland China. It aimed at developing university students’ business skills, cultivating professional judgement and preparing for the business environment. 

A total of 32 DBM teams joined the competition, and seven of them got into the second round amongst 40 shortlisted teams. Base on written reports, reviewers selected the best eight teams to enter the final round of the competition, which three DBM teams were in.

The theme of this year was to analyse the business and future development of the dairy industry. The three DBM teams and the other finalists gathered in Beijing and gave a 15 minutes presentation to illustrate their business plans as well as demonstrate their analytical and problem solving skills.

Xiao Jiahui, leader of the second runner-up team whose members were from Year Three Accounting Programme, said that being relaxed and innovative was their team’s advantages. They were grateful to the instruction given by their advisor Mr Koon-wang Kwok, Senior Lecturer of DBM.

Professor Stella Cho, Dean of DBM, congratulated the three finalist teams and appreciated the teaching faculties who gave instruction and suggestions to the awarded teams.
