Almost 2,000 students and parents had face-to-face communication with representatives of the participating institutes at the 7th International Postgraduate Information Fair at UIC on 28 October. A total of 31 higher education institutes across the world exhibited their master’s and doctorate programmes, earning much attention of the visitors that attended from UIC and nearby universities.
In this fair, universities including Australia’s University of Queensland, Nanyang Technological University from Singapore, King's College London, Brandeis University from the US, Canada’s University of British Columbia, the German Academic Exchange Service, and Hong Kong Baptist University set up booths, and some offered information sessions. The visitors could get beneficial information about application requirements and suggestions on choosing a major.

Professor Roman Matousek represented the University of Kent to bring UIC students information about the graduate programmes being offered. He said that Kent hoped to build strong connections with Chinese universities and they noticed that around 60% of UIC students continue their postgraduate studies overseas.
The fair produced many favourable comments from the parents as well. Mr Huang, the father of a senior from the Finance programme of UIC, told that he received satisfying answers from the helpful on-site representatives. He acknowledged this event for providing an opportunity for them to directly communicate with the higher education institutes abroad.

Despite seven new exhibitors, some of the viewers hoped to see more universities on their wish lists next year. According to Associate Vice President of UIC, Prof Lilian Kwan, the next fair would be probably held on UIC’s new campus with larger space and better facilities.
