On 30 October, UIC went international. The 6th Annual International Postgraduate Education Fair was held in the middle of campus. The event invited universities to inform students from UIC and nearby universities of graduate school options that are available abroad. This year 30 schools attended and did presentations for students and parents to introduce the education opportunities offered.

The two day fair began with UIC’s President Prof Ng Ching-Fai welcoming the visiting universities and thanking them for attending the fair. He then explained to the visiting exhibitors the mission and also a brief history of UIC. He concluded his speech by urging students to “grasp this golden opportunity to explore their ideal postgraduate programme.”

The fair was split between the two floors of A Zone. The top floor featured mostly Hong Kong institutions, including a large set up by Hong Kong Baptist University. In addition, the Swedish Education Group, The French Consulate, and the German Consulate had booths to introduce education options in their countries.

Universities from Singapore, Canada, England, Australia and the United States set up booths to introduce students to their programmes on the first floor. In addition to offering booths where students could ask questions and get brochures, the universities also presented their graduate programmes.

The attending students and parents were pleased with the event. Iris Yu, a Year Four International Journalism major, said: “This event was really great for me because I got to learn more about my postgraduate options and there are so many more options than I expected. I am so glad I came.”
