
The first joint summer programme run by UIC and Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) was opened at the Academic Community Hall of HKBU on 3 July.
About 600 students have enrolled on the one-month programme, including 383 from UIC, 200 from HKBU and 22 from HKBU’s exchange partner institutions in China, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and the US.
According to HKBU’s Acting President and Vice-Chancellor Prof Rick Wong, HKBU and UIC launched this summer programme with a view to enhance the internationalisation element.

In his opening speech, UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai encouraged students to work hard and treasure this precious study opportunity. Compared with the previous eight summer programmes that were solely organised for UIC students, this year’s has more to discover.

Student representative Zeng Wanling, a Year Two student majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language at UIC, delivered a vote of thanks. She added that the programme would allow them to interact with fellow students, in addition to having a deeper understanding about the history and culture of Hong Kong.

As an integral part of the summer education, students are provided with various extra-curricular activities, including visits to Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the High Court and the Heritage Museum. Students will have opportunities to go fishing in Tai Po and hiking in Tai Tam Reservoir. For HKBU exchange students, they will take a three-day tour to UIC and the Pearl River Delta Region.
