Parents donate trees to grow at UIC new campus

The parents of students from Zhongshan have contributed about 300,000 yuan worth of trees to show their support for the construction of UIC’s new campus. At the donation ceremony on 1 April, participants also celebrated the college’s tenth anniversary and the completion of phase one of the New Cultural Village.

Li Jianbiao, the donation initiator and the parents’ representative, thanked UIC for its education diligence. As he is a UIC Accounting graduate’s father, he additionally thanked Prof Stella Cho, Dean of the Division of Business and Management for her care about his daughter. He said many parents from Zhongshan joined him when he proposed the donation to draw more people’s attention to UIC’s development.

President Prof Ng Ching-Fai and Mr Li signed an agreement, and then in the New Cultural Village they and other guests planted a magnolia denudate together, which symbolizes the trust and support parents extend to UIC.

After the ceremony, the Whole Person Education Office proposed there be an annual tree-planting activity among students and staff. They planted over 150 trees and flowers, forming some of them into the pattern of UIC’s tenth anniversary logo.
