“We were impressed by UIC’s environment, college vision and warm hospitality of both staff and students,” wrote the Principal of St Paul’s Convent School, Sister Margaret Wong, in a letter of appreciation for her visit to UIC on 14 March.
“The Student Hostels & Cultural Village is full of life and forms a unique social community that promotes cultural diversities, interaction and whole person development. You are making a difference. UIC is really an alternative for some Hong Kong students.”

Thirteen people from St Paul’s Convent School (SPCS), including students and staff, applauded the quality of UIC and its students after experiencing UIC’s learning atmosphere.
They visited teaching facilities including the Division of Science and Technology labs, Journalism and Communication production studios, and media editing labs.
At lunchtime they met with UIC Vice President Prof Zee Sze-Yong and students from Hong Kong to learn more about university life in UIC.
Two SPCS students showed interest in entering UIC in the future to experience a different culture. They said Zhuhai is less crowded and has a slower pace of life than Hong Kong, and life at UIC, as far as they had seen, is fulfilling and fruitful.
The SPCS visitors also attended a class where English was the medium of instruction, and saw themselves a practical environment in UIC classrooms.
In addition, Sister Margaret Wong discussed with Mr Michael Ching, UIC’s Centre for Advanced Professional Studies, about possible collaboration.
“We look forward to further cooperation with UIC,” said Sister Margaret Wong.

Founded in 1854, SPCS is a highly selective Catholic girls’ school and one of the oldest Grant-in-aid Schools in Hong Kong.
“St Paul’s Convent School is one of the very few top brand Hong Kong schools to have visited our campus. It was apparently an eye-opening experience for the SPCS girls as they would not have expected such a rare insight into university life in mainland China,” said Jane Cheung, UIC’s Hong Kong Office Manager.
