UIC teams again dominate the national Accounting Qualification Programme Case Analysis Competition

Organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), the QP Case Analysis Competition is one of the few advanced accounting contests in mainland China. It requires students to demonstrate their abilities in knowledge, teamwork, leadership, and analytical and problem-solving skills through their case analysis.

In the first round, 433 contestants from the top Chinese universities were required to submit an executive summary with financial analysis of a business plan about the fashion industry. Thirty of them were chosen to present elaborate reports in the second round. And the last eight teams from Sun Yat-sen University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and UIC competed in Guangzhou for the final results.

Five teams from the Division of Business Management (DBM) at UIC took part in the second round of the competition, and three of them entered the national finals and achieved outstanding results.

Dean of DBM Prof Stella Cho congratulates the winning teams and extends her heartiest thanks to all the teaching faculty advisors.

She says UIC is the first university in mainland China to have its accounting degree programme accredited by the HKICPA, and the only institution in Guangdong to have its conversion courses accredited.

UIC students have been participating well in the competition since it was firstly held five years ago.

In 2009, one team ended as runner-up and another team received a Merit Team Award. In 2010, one team got the first place, and another gained a Merit Team Award. In 2011, a Merit Team Award was awarded. In 2012, one won the first prize, another followed as runner-up, and the third team was awarded the Merit Team Award.
