
The Kyudo clubs of UIC and Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai held the 13th Kyudo (Japanese Archery) Competition in the Qiuzhen Kyudojo on 1 December, commemorating the 35th anniversary of The Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China.
Attending the event were the Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou Mr Ito Koichi, president and members of the Kyodo Association of Minakami, Japan, UIC’s Coordinator of the Physical Education Centre Prof Arthur Fanglong Xu, coach of the UIC Kyudo Club Ms Wang Ying, and staff and students from the two universities.

The competition began with a makiwara sharei shooting ceremony by members of the Kyudo Association of Minakami. Players then entered the Kyudojo and competed in five rounds. In black and white uniform, they expressed vitality, confidence and attentiveness. Their steady pace and high morale were a sign of loyalty to the spirit of Kyudo.
UIC players won the intense competition with 35 hits. The audience applauded and cheered for the wonderful performance.
