The Division of Business and Management (DBM) at UIC received bunches of funding in total of more than HKD480,000 from the HKICPA (Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants) at the HKICPA Presentation Ceremony on 11 September.
The HKICPA funding covered three areas, including: 15 DBM students were sponsored by the QP (Hong Kong Certified Public Accountant Qualification Programme) Elite Programme; another six were awarded 2013/14 QP Scholarships; and the DBM Training Centre - HKICPA QP Resource Centre at UIC and accounting research and academic activities at DBM were also supported.

Organised by the HKICPA, the QP Elite Programme is specially established for UIC students. 15 elite Accounting Year Four students are gratis offered QP training courses and examinations, which is supposed to cost HKD10,300 per student.
And the students who are granted the QP Scholarships receive a total of HKD5,300 per person in the form of a fee waiver. The fees for initial student registration, one year student annual subscription, four QP modules and Final Examination are roofed.
Set up at UIC in 2012, the DBM Training Centre - HKICPA QP Resource Centre is the only QP resource centre in Mainland China. At the Presentation Ceremony, the Centre was sponsored with HKD300,000 by the HKICPA.

Besides the financial aid, the HKICPA’s QP has re-accredited UIC's Professional Accountancy Conversion Programme for a period of five years until 31 July 2018.

Mr. Jonathan Ng, Execute Director of the HKICPA, said in the Ceremony that the HKICPA chose UIC as its first ever collaborative institute in mainland China because he and his co-workers were “very impressed by the quality of the students and also the dedication of the teachers”. He believed that UIC provides students a solid foundation to move a level up, and the QP equips them with “skills, knowledge and values to be able to handle the future challenges” as a CPA.
