A new practicum base was established at Zhuhai No. 8 Middle School for the program of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) at UIC on 24 April.

“The knowledge that a TESL student acquires in class needs testing, most suitably by way of giving lessons in a practical classroom. We are very much grateful for the support from the teachers of Zhuhai No. 8 Middle School since the year 2010,” said Prof. Mei-hwa Sung. She hopes the cooperation between the two institutes will be lasting and add new elements to the English teaching in China.
Ms. Lei Ying was in full praise of the interns from UIC. “Professional, disciplined and communicative, UIC students are excellent in every aspect of the practicum here. I believe the win-win collaboration will be more and more pleasant with increasing quality,” she said.

The Year Three TESL student Murong Wanqi appreciated her two-week internship experience in the middle school. She received a great deal of advice from the middle school teachers and applied it to practical teaching. She said the experience added new substance to her future teaching career.
