The International Development Office announced the official opening of its new location at the Student Hostel Cultural Village on November 14.

The UIC Dragon and Lion Dancing Team were invited to perform the traditional dances to commemorate the opening ceremony. UIC President Prof Ng Ching Fai and the President of Concordia College, Dr William Craft, painted the eyes of the lion before the start of the lion dance, a traditional action done to awaken the lion’s spirit.

The new office is located in Block No.1 in the Student Hostel Cultural Village. The convenient spot helps students to gather information for overseas studies, as well as offering a site where international, exchange and Chinese students can get to know each other better.

Dr Craft and representatives from the Minnesota Private College Council who also attended the ceremony were intrigued by the lion-dancing. They were impressed that UIC students can include the traditional dance as part of the Whole Person Education elective courses in their curriculum.
