Prof C.F Ng encouraged students to build a liberal arts college in unity
After the rise for the national anthem, Prof. Ng gave an address and encouraged students to build UIC into an exemplified liberal arts college in unity. Prof. Ng said:
"In the last part of 20th century, we have already entered into a post-industrial era; more and more, we are now living in a knowledge society a characteristic of which is knowledge explosion and information explosion. Thus, many educators in the world are of the opinion that no matter how much content you inject into an undergraduate degree course for a specific discipline, it will never be enough as new knowledge continues to emerge and the existing knowledge would soon be outdated. Therefore it would be better off to offer degree courses with less major subjects and a greater breadth of related or general knowledge type subjects so as to better prepare the students to face an ever changing society by acquiring the ability and attitude of life long learning and high EQ..., I dare say only few universities in China would provide you with such a broad knowledge base and international exposure on which to construct your future success. Dear Students, let us make UIC an exemplified liberal arts college here in Zhuhai that you and I will be proud of. "
