It's been nearly a week since the day when the traffic accident happened to Yuan Zhe. Under the care of his mother and our UIC teachers and students, and with his own strengh, the condition of Yuan Zhe has now stabilized. According to SAO colleagues, the bleeding in Yuan Zhe's brain has stopped, and now he can talk a bit and recognize his classmates. However, there is no medication that can be used, when headache strikes, he would get a bit anxious and would reach out his hand to people around him for support. SAO has arranged student volunteers to take the night shift from 10:30pm to 7:30am, so that his mother could rest a bit.
After writing the first email to appeal for support and help, Executive Vice President Prof. Kwok has written two more emails to inform UIC staff and students about the latest progress of Yuan Zhe. In his last email, he also extended sincerest appreciation to all the colleagues and students who have helped Yuan Zhe through the crisis. Prof. Kwok wrote:
"Without your help, his condition would have deteriorated very rapidly and the tragedy would have been permanent. Your care and support meant so much to the student and the family. His mother has sincerely asked our colleagues and me to thank you all. She is very grateful."
Meanwhile, Prof. Kwok has received a lot of mails of support which he will print to Yuan Zhe later. At the hospital, Yuan Zhe's bed is surrounded by flowers and baskets of fruits, wishing that he could recover and return to campus soon!
