Delegates from University of Ulsan (UOU), Korea, visited UIC on Mar. 26, 2008. Visitors included Mr. Zhao Xiao Lai, Vice-President of UOU, Mr. Quan Sheng Bao, Director of International Study, and Prof. Li Re Ze, Professor of Chinese Language Center. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Kowk Siu Tong, UIC Executive Vice-President.
At the meeting after the reception, discussions focused on student exchange programs between the two institutions, summer cultural exchange programs and staff exchange programs. UOU representatives said that hopefully summer cultural exchange programs would begin next year.
UOU was founded in 1969. Funded by Hyundai Conglomerate, a leading Korean automobile manufacturer, the university enjoys good relations with the industrial sector, providing students with plenty of opportunities in internship and employment. According to Mr. Quan Sheng Bao, UOU now offers 17 academic programs with English as the medium of instruction. In order to help students get more international exposure, UOU designed an overseas internship program, which requires students to undertake a six-month internship in multinational companies abroad.
