June 1. Students and staff raised a donation for Qinghai Minority Area children on Children’s Day. UIC will organize students to Qinghai Minority Area during summer vocation to perform voluntary service in support of local agriculture and education development. This donation aimed at collecting stationery and books for the Tu’s and Tibetan Children whom the volunteers will visit during their trip.
The Donation started at 9:00 AM, June 1. At the two donation stations on 2/F and 4/F, students and staff lined up to make their donation. They also wrote down their well-wishes and words of encouragement on the greeting cards for the children. Donation boxes were also carried by students to tour around the student dormitories and staff offices. When the donation ended at 3:00 PM, totally RMB¥6000 and a batch of books and stationery were raised.
According to Ms. Shu Chang from the Whole Person Education Office, the donated fund will be used in purchasing stationery and books for the following schools: Xiaoshi Primary School, a Tu’s Primary School in Huzhu County, Qinghai (the only Tu’s autonomy county in the country), Tibetan Jiayi Primary School and Secondary School in Gonghe County, Quzhen Orphanage and Deji Orphanage in Lhasa. The greeting cards will also be brought to Qinghai, delivering the caring hearts from the UIC students and staff to the children there.
From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the donation was held at BNU Zhuhai Campus. The donation will continue for 20 days in UIC to raise more support for children in Qinghai.
