Published on 7 June 2023

With an international education and English-teaching environment, many UIC graduates have chosen to pursue further studies on the global stage, and some have received offers from Master's programmes in non-English-speaking countries in Europe.

Zhu Siyang is a fourth-year student of the Department of Finance and Economics of the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) at UIC, and he will go to the European University Institute's Master of Research in Economics Programme to pursue his Master's degree after graduation.

Thanks to UIC's curriculum setting and teachers' patient guidance, Zhu regarded himself as a lucky one to discover his interest and future development path.

By choosing courses related to economics, mathematics and statistics, reading a large number of professional books, and serving as a research assistant for related projects of Assistant Dean of FBM Dr Lin Mi and Dr Li Jingya, he became increasingly interested in the study of economics and his plans for the future were clearer.

UIC's teachers also provided Zhu with detailed advice for further study, and he finally chose the European University College on the advice of Dr Lin.

Zou Peiyan is a fourth-year student of the Department of Life Sciences of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FST) at UIC, and she has chosen an Erasmus' programme, International Master in Marine Biological Resources (IMBRSea), for her further study after graduation.

Zou said she had gradually honed her leadership, collaboration and communication skills and grown holistically with the guidance of UIC's liberal arts education and whole-person education.

Zou's study at UIC is quite interdisciplinary. She took courses provided by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS), Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), and School of General Education (SGE), developing her ability to think across disciplines. She also actively participated in student interest clubs and holiday activities and found her interest in ecological conservation and restoration.

Eventually, with her excellent academic performance and interest, she won multiple scholarships and was admitted to Erasmus Programme.

Yang Yu is also a fourth-year student of the Department of Life Sciences of FST at UIC, and he will go to Utrecht University in the Netherlands and study its Master Programme of Applied Cognitive Psychology after graduation.

Yang was particularly impressed by UIC's unique curriculum and its high rate of admission to world-renowned universities, cohering to his plan.

Yang worked hard in studying and seizing every opportunity to enhance teamwork, communication, and presentation skills. He also learned from his off-campus internships to apply his knowledge into practice, and such experience strengthened his determination to further his education in psychology.
