Published on 5 April 2022

5 April 2022

Dear students,

Good evening.  In alignment with the latest announcement with subject “To further strengthen the health management on individuals coming/returning to Zhuhai” issued by Zhuhai COVID-19 Prevention and Control Headquarters as well as the local pandemic prevention and control policies, the College Pandemic Prevention and Control Team resolved to revise the policies and arrangements on students’ return to campus during Reading Week, details are as follows:

1. Students who are currently located outside Zhuhai

(1.1) All students who are currently located outside Zhuhai are advised to stay put until further notice. Under extreme circumstances where returning to campus is absolutely necessary (e.g. to attend courses which could only be delivered on-site), an application for approval must be submitted via WeCom platform (Workspace – Application for Returning to Campus) prior to the planned returning date; student concerned is ONLY allowed to return to Zhuhai upon obtaining approval from the College. The processing time will be usually 1-2 working days.

Hybrid teaching and learning methods will be adopted from 11 April 2022. For details, please pay heed to the further announcements issued by our Academic Registry.  For courses which absolutely require the physical presence of our students, for example, courses offered by Whole Person Education Office etc, Divisions and Centres will make further adjustments in view of students’ attendance.

(1.2) Students who obtain approval for returning to Zhuhai, especially for those who return from cities (autonomous prefectures, districts of municipalities) where local COVID cases have been reported within the last 14 days, should present a valid 48-hour negative COVID testing result upon arriving in Zhuhai, undergo a 3-day home quarantine plus 11-day self-health-monitoring (testing on 1st, 3rd, 5th & 14th day) upon arriving at Zhuhai. The above individuals should not go out unless absolutely necessary or return to campus or go to public venues during the first 3 days.

Since our hostels do not meet the conditions for home quarantine, for students in such cases without a proper place for home quarantine, the College will recommend qualified hotels for home quarantine, and students concerned should be responsible for check-in into his/her chosen hotel and bear all costs incurred. Students are allowed to enter into campus premises ONLY after: (i) completing 3-day home quarantine; and (ii) presenting TWO negative COVID testing results completed during these 3-day home quarantine.  For information about cities where local COVID-19 cases have been reported in the past 14 days, please refer to the official updates released on National Health Commission website athttp://www.nhc.gov.cn/.

2. Requirements on COVID-19 testing results upon entry to campus

For individuals who meet the stipulated conditions for his/her return to campus, it is mandatory for him/her to present a valid 24-hour negative COVID-19 testing result done in Zhuhai, show your health code (GREEN) and travelling code, check your temperature and wear a mask upon entry into the campus.  All students should complete (i) a COVID-19 test within 24 hours upon returning to campus; and (ii) have 3 testings completed within 5 days at the testing point on campus.

The above policies will be effective from 7 April 2022, 00:00AM. Students who return to campus before 7 April are required to follow the prevailing measures, i.e. to report beforehand, and to strictly comply with the local pandemic prevention and control policies (i.e. aforementioned Point 1.2 and Point 2), with particular reference made to those.  Students are strongly advised to pay close heed to the pandemic prevention measures in regard to individuals coming/returning from areas where local COVID-19 cases have been reported in the past 14 days.

The pandemic situation is still in grim and we must not yet off guard.  We sincerely hope to have your invaluable understanding and support in this combat with COVID-19.   Please be reminded that we all are responsible for our own health.  Students are reminded of the importance to wear face masks properly; wash hands regularly; maintain appropriate social distance; observe the instructions of government health authorities. The College will also closely monitor the situation and make appropriate adjustments in accordance with the requirements of local pandemic prevention and control authorities.  For the latest announcement with subject To further strengthen the health management on individuals coming/returning to Zhuhai”, please refer to the link below: https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/oiJIf4k9opIJjGZ8oHFMnA.
