The feature film is set in 2019 in a dystopian Los Angeles, where man-like replicants are routinely manufactured and used as a workforce in extra-terrestrial colonies. Replicants who flee or illegally return to Earth are hunted and "removed from service", ie physically eliminated, by special agents called "blade runners".
Blade Runner 2049 is a 2017 film directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The film is the sequel to 1982's Blade Runner, directed by Ridley Scott. The screenplay, written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, is based on characters from Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
