As the autumn breeze swept across the BNBU campus, Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) held its 16th International Postgraduate Education Information Fair on 29 October 2025, welcoming nearly 40 prestigious universities worldwide to provide admissions guidance and face-to-face consultation for students aspiring to pursue further studies.

This year’s fair featured top institutions such as the National University of Singapore, the University of California, Berkeley, Johns Hopkins University, King’s College London, and the University of Sydney, drawing more than 1,000 students and parents from BNBU and other universities.

At the opening ceremony, BNBU President Prof Chen Zhi reflected on BNBU’s 20-year journey of academic excellence and international development. He encouraged students to make full use of the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with university representatives and to gain valuable insights for their academic and career planning.

Several BNBU students shared their opinions on the fair. “I am here to meet my dream university, and I want to know what kind of students they want and how to get qualified,” said fourth-year student Pi Jiahong.

For second-year student Ji Zixuan, it’s a great chance for him to collect information. “I hope to pursue further studies, but currently, I don’t have much of an idea about it. So I come here to listen to the representatives.”

“The fair is great for students,” second-year student Baohan agreed, “because we can get more information very efficiently than just searching the internet.”

The fair this year welcomed two new partners, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU) and the Tandon School of Engineering at New York University (NYU).

“This is our first time participating in the BNBU fair,” said Mr Alvin Tay from NTU. “BNBU students have a strong academic foundation, international outlook, and excellent English communication skills.” He added that NTU’s postgraduate programmes in sustainability, artificial intelligence, and business analytics welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who demonstrate curiosity, creativity, and hands-on experience.

Mr Jason Chu from NYU Tandon School of Engineering echoed the enthusiasm. “The academic environment here is vibrant, and the students are full of energy,” he said. He also shared insights on US application processes: “Master’s admissions focus heavily on academic results, while PhD evaluations emphasise research capability. Students should prepare early and strategically.”

One of the returning participants, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, praised the continued excellence of BNBU students. “Our past admits from BNBU have performed exceptionally well,” said Ms Stefanie Li, representative from the school. “They adapt easily to different environments and display strong analytical and communication skills.” As for admission, she advises students to broaden their practical skills whilst maintaining strong performance in their core programmes.

Meanwhile, a delegate from King’s College London Ms Wicky Guo noted that BNBU students stand out for their academic potential and global perspective. “We assess applicants comprehensively, like academic records, recommendations, and personal statements; all matter,” she said. “Students should clearly articulate their interests, research experiences, and long-term goals to strengthen their applications.”

Representing participating universities, a delegate from NTU, Mr Alvin Tay, highlights the shared educational philosophy between the two universities and anticipated cultivating globally competitive talents together to address world challenges.

Dr Maggie Tang, representative of the BNBU’s One-to-One Counsellor Team, stresses that the team focuses on students’ lifelong professional growth and career development, and encouraged students to utilise the university's resources to explore their interests.

Among the many attendees, BNBU senior Pi Jiahong, a Data Science major, shares her journey of growth with the help of the One-to-One consultation programme.
