From 24 to 26 January 2026, a delegation led by President Prof Chen Zhi of Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) visited the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, engaging in academic exchange, alumni meetings and discussions on future collaboration.
At Oxford, Prof Chen and the delegation met with Prof Qian Zhongmin, Professor of Mathematics and Official Fellow in Mathematics at Exeter College, and Prof Chen Gui-Qiang, Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Statutory Chair Professor at Oxford. The discussions focused on academic research, talent cultivation and potential avenues for collaboration. The delegation also met BNBU alumni currently pursuing doctoral and master’s degrees at Oxford, learning about their studies and research progress.

On 26 January, Prof Chen attended the opening ceremony of the BNBU Winter Programme at Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, and delivered an address. The programme aims to enhance students’ cross-cultural competence through business management studies and field visits to the UK business environment. Prof Chen encouraged the 47 participating BNBU students to engage actively in both academic and cultural activities.

Following the ceremony, Prof Chen met with the Mayor of Cambridge, Dinah Pounds, to explore cooperation opportunities between Cambridge and Zhuhai, as well as between Cambridge University and BNBU. On the same day, Prof Chen also visited the Needham Research Institute with BNBU alumni and met the Director Prof Mei Jianjun, and the Librarian John Moffett, further enriching academic dialogue during the UK visit.
