We are delighted to announce that there will be an inaugural faculty concert for Violin and Piano on Tuesday 14 November at 7:00pm at the UIC University Hall featuring two new Music faculty members. Prof. Mateja Marinkovic (violin), who comes to UIC after more than 20 years teaching at the Royal Academy of Music in London, will be joined by Ms. Jacqueline Leung (piano), a graduate and Associate of the Royal Academy. It is anticipated that this concert will be the first of many concerts at the college and an important step in the establishment of a Centre of Musical Excellence in the Pearl Delta region.
The evening's programme will open with a delightful sonata by Mozart, followed by the Faure Violin Sonata, an iconic work of the French repertoire. The second half features two virtuosic solo pieces for violin and piano by Ernst and Liszt respectively, and the recital closes with two of Tchaikovsky's best loved works.
