韩子奇取得香港大学学士学位后，到美国留学获密西根大学硕士和芝加哥大学博士学位。过去二十多年来，他曾先后任教于印第安纳州汉诺威学院（1992-1996）、纽约州立大学杰纳苏分校（1996-2016）和香港城市大学（2017-2021）。韩子奇教授专门研究《易经》、中国文化史、近代思想史和中国经典西传。他曾出版三本著作：The Yijing and Chinese Politics (2005), Revolution as Restoration (2013), The Allure of the Nation (2015)；与Geoffrey Redmond合写了Teaching the I Ching (Book of Changes) (2014)，教西方人如何读《易经》。 他先后编了六本论文集，包括Confucianism for the Contemporary World (2017), Cold War Cities (2021)和The Other Yijing (2022)。 他的论文散见于Journal of Chinese Philosophy, Modern China, Monumenta Serica以及Sungkyun Journal of East Asian Studies等。
