Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Research and Application for Data Science (IRADS) convened its second meeting of the Academic Committee on 11 January 2024 with scholars and experts from renowned educational institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, and Peking University etc. attended. UIC President and Director of the Academic Committee of IRADS Prof Tang Tao chaired the meeting.
Prof Tang Tao said that UIC attaches great importance to developing scientific research and constructing scientific and technological platforms. The laboratory will follow the leading trend of scientific research, give full play to the interdisciplinary study and make more significant progress and breakthroughs.
The Head of IRADS Prof Pan Jianxin reported to the Academic Committee on the progress of the construction, research results and the work plan for 2024 of IRADS during the meeting, and discussed the future direction and challenges with the participating experts.
The scholars and experts all agreed that the Key Laboratory has achieved fruitful results and suggested it enhance cooperation between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao; strengthen interdisciplinary study of computer and other disciplines, such as artificial intelligence, ocean economy, health and finance; promote the STAT+X platform and collaborations with colleges, universities and enterprises.
Scholars and experts were invited to deliver academic reports in the afternoon of the same day, sharing insights on AI and big data, Ensemble Kalman filter and data assimilation, and the application of unsupervised clustering in biological research.
