The UIC campus was awakened as students and staff returned to school, breaking the silence with diverse activities such as the 13th UIC Charity Cup with dragon and lion dances.

UIC Charity Cup aims to raise money for charity with sessions including the Lion Dance Plucking the Greens to display traditional Lingnan traditions and customs while sending best wishes for the New Year. This year, the target of aid is Zhuhai Jinfeng School, leading the students to the joy of studying.

UIC Associate Vice President (Student Development) and Acting Dean of the School of General Education, Prof Stella Cho, said that the activity allows students and staff to feel the charm of Chinese culture. She hoped the Cup could arouse more attention to the disadvantaged and help more needy people.

UIC's second-year student, Chen Xi, of the Applied Psychology Programme, was a member of the UIC Dragon Lion Dance Team. She said it was an honour to participate in the activity and promote Chinese culture.

Ding Muhan is UIC's third-year student of the Applied Translation Studies Programme. He was impressed by the skills and spirit of bravery and perseverance of the lion dance and was glad to send blessings to all the staff and students.

Meanwhile, students are getting ready to embrace the enriching journey of learning and discovery, welcoming a new semester that begins fresh and full of potential and possibilities.
