UIC expands global network by visiting seven US universities

Published on 19 August 2024

UIC President Prof Chen Zhi led a delegation on a summer visit to seven universities in the US: University of California, Berkeley; Northeastern University; Berklee College of Music; Brandeis University; University of Massachusetts Boston; Emerson College and Harvard University. The purpose was to explore new opportunities and methods for academic education cooperation between UIC and these institutions.

In recent years, UIC has accelerated its internalisation by actively expanding its network with leading higher education institutions worldwide, promoting academic and educational exchanges between China and other countries. The tour of the seven universities was an important part of UIC's international development plan.

A conference themed "A Century of Process Thought: Commemorating Whitehead's Legacy at Harvard and Beyond" will be co-organised by several organisations on 27 September 2024 at Harvard University. The organisations include the Centre for Whitehead Studies of UIC's Institute of Advanced Study, the Harvard Chinese Students and Scholars Association (Harvard CSSA), the Centre for Process Studies, the Whitehead Research Project, and the Boston School of Modern Languages.

The event will delve into the development of Whitehead's thoughts during his tenure at Harvard, his Chinese disciples at Harvard and their contributions, and the broader interaction between Whitehead's philosophy and Chinese intellectual traditions.
