Welcome, Class of 2028!

Published on 22 August 2024

UIC has welcomed more than 2,000 fresh faces to the campus for orientation since 21 August 2024, who are from 28 provinces, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as international students from a number of countries.

Admission scores and rankings have reached record highs across the country this year, with more than 80% of the provinces improving on last year's lowest undergraduate admission rankings. In Guangdong, nearly 14,000 students registered for the Comprehensive Evaluation Admission (CEA) Examination, and in the end, around 900 students stood out from over 8,000 qualified candidates.

To better accommodate the new students, about 120 senior students have volunteered to provide guidance and assistance during the Orientation Day. The campus and residence halls have also been decorated in advance to create a welcoming atmosphere.

New students will live in 12 residential halls after applying for dormitory room types and roommates. Available room types include two-person rooms, three-person rooms, four-person rooms and 2+2 suites.

Later, they will join the Mentor Caring Programme (MCP) and the College has prepared a series of activities for them to participate in, including faculty meetings, the English Enhancement Programme (EEP), campus tours and so on, to familiarise them with their new university life.
