A delegation from the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), the Hong Kong Baptist University Foundation and HKBU senior management arrived at UIC on 15 November 2024 to promote more substantive collaborations between the two parties.

The delegation comprised: Treasurer of the Council, Mr Kevin Liem; Honorary Trustee of the Foundation, Dr Liu Chak-wan; Members and Co-Chairmen of the Entrepreneur Committee of the Foundation, Ms Connie Wong and Dr Stanley Yim; Co-Chairmen of the Young Entrepreneurs Committee of the Foundation, Dr Chloe Suen and Mr Ivan Wong; HKBU President and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Alexander Wai; HKBU Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr Albert Chau; HKBU Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary Ms Christine Chow; Senior Advisor to the President Prof Rick Wong, and more.
A welcoming meeting was held, where UIC President Prof Chen Zhi introduced the university's development history and recent achievements, expressing optimism for increased cooperation with HKBU.

UIC and HKBU have previously deepened technology collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, establishing a joint fund pool to support technological development.
Prof Wai hoped that in the future, more interactions could be boosted between the two institutes in terms of student learning experience, teaching and scientific research. He pointed out that through the Extended Study Programme, students gained competitiveness and deepened their understanding of opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. He also mentioned that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the Foundation, and he thanked it for its support to the two universities.

During the meeting, Prof Chen, UIC Vice President (Academic) and Executive Director of Institute for Advanced Study Prof Zhou Yongming, and UIC Vice President (Research and Development) Prof Pan Jianxin also guided the guests to UIC’s campus construction, programmes development, industry-university-research cooperation and more.

The delegation later toured around UIC, visiting facilities including the Learning Resource Centre, the Math Lab, the Arts Hill, the Yayue Hall, and the residence halls of the second-phase campus.





The visit concluded with an exchange session with UIC students, providing the delegation with insights into the students' academic and living situations and allowing them to offer advice on study and career planning.
