2020 Graduates: 72% pursue further studies with 74.4% admitted to top 100 universities

A total of 1341 UIC graduates were awarded Bachelor's Degrees in 2020, among which 72% have continued to pursue postgraduate studies. Amongst all the students who have chosen postgraduate programmes, 74.4% have been accepted by the world's top 100 universities in the latest QS Rankings, which is an increase of 10.8% when compared with 2019. Graduates who choose direct employment mainly work in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Beijing and Shanghai.

In a recent publication on graduate destinations, UIC reported that 72% of the 2020 graduates have continued to pursue postgraduate studies, according to a survey conducted before December 2020.

Amongst all students who have chosen postgraduate programmes, 74.4% have been accepted by the world's top 100 universities in the QS Rankings. These universities include the University College London, UK; Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Columbia University, US; Australian National University; and the University of Hong Kong.

The graduates' preferred countries and regions for further study are the UK (44.22%), Australia (23.24%), Hong Kong SAR of China (19.35%), and the US (6.92%).

Among graduates pursue postgraduate studies, 40 of them study at universities in the Chinese mainland, including UIC, Renmin University of China, and Beijing Normal University.

Almost 17.6% of the graduates have secured jobs in companies. Other graduates have chosen a different career path, such as starting a business or freelancing.

The top five cities for employment in the Chinese mainland for UIC graduates are Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Beijing and Shanghai.

The most popular industries that UIC graduates are involved in include business services (20.76%), education (11.44%), software and computer science and technology (11.44%), the financial industry (10.59%), as well as science and technology promotion and application service industry (6.36%).
