UIC has opened the Comprehensive Evaluation Admission (CEA) applications for Guangdong Province students. On 20-21 March, UIC held 2021 admission information sessions in several cities in Guangdong to introduce the admission policy and UIC's Liberal Arts Education.

New undergraduate programmes for demands of the society
This year, UIC is expected to offer 29 undergraduate programmes, including newly proposed programmes: Artificial Intelligence; Digital Social Science; Animation and Interactive Media; Chinese Culture and Global Communication; Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management, etc. These inter-disciplinary subjects meet the demands of social development.
UIC undergraduate programmes (for 2021 Admission)
For example, the Artificial Intelligence Programme with a team of high-level teachers will commit to developing talents with artificial intelligence skills to process data analysis, technical research, and product development.
The Digital Social Science Programme strives to help students understand the transformation and development of digital society. Also, the students will learn the practical uses of knowledge and tools in digital analysis under the development trend of digitalisation and datamation in today's society.
The Animation and Interactive Media Programme aims to cultivate talents proficient in film and television animation theories, combining professional knowledge with that of other areas, including interactive media, new media, computer games.
The Chinese Culture and Global Communication Programme commits to developing talents with a deep understanding of Chinese culture and a vision of the international academic field familiar with communication theories.
Under the Division of Culture and Creativity, the Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management Programme aims to provide opportunities for students to pursue their interest in tourism, hospitality and event industry, and apply the knowledge in the major fields of studies. The programme provides students with a foundation of knowledge and skills to become service leaders in managing.
Face-to-face with parents and students
On 20 March, the President of UIC, Prof Tang Tao, introduced UIC on 2021 admission information sessions in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. He presented UIC's educational philosophy, mentioning that UIC's education cultivates open-minded, well-rounded talents, enabling students to dig into their academic field of expertise with an interdisciplinary approach. Under the liberal arts education, UIC graduates will have a global vision while being dedicated to society.

Other sites of 2021 Admission information sessions include Foshan, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Shantou, Jiangmen, Huizhou and Zhanjiang. UIC professors, students, alumni and parents worked as volunteers in the sessions. On 27 March, another two information sessions will be held in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Additionally, UIC Open Days are coming soon, respectively on 28 March, 17 April, and 2 May.
What is Liberal Arts Education?
When choosing your university, have you thought about what kind of education you are looking for? As President Tang says, UIC's motto "In knowledge and in deeds, unto the whole person", represents the ideals, spirits and values that the UIC community upholds. UIC's Liberal Arts Education aims to cultivate students' minds, personalities and ability to learn extensive knowledge actively. It encourages students to think critically and be persistent when seeking knowledge and truth, which comprehends at a higher level that is meaningful.
Li Xushan from Zhongshan graduated from UIC Accounting Programme in 2020, continuing her further study in Master of Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science. According to her, UIC students are encouraged to challenge themselves, think independently and cultivate optimistic and positive attitudes. Besides, since UIC professors had experience studying overseas, she could ask for advice about postgraduate life problems.

Han Jiajun, a graduate of the Public Relations and Advertising Programme in 2017, used to serve in the world's largest public relations firm Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. He plans to study for a Master's Degree and has already got offers from famous universities such as Columbia University and New York University.

Jiajun explained that UIC is suitable for students of interest-orientation and strive for comprehensive development. In UIC, he started to learn about traditional Chinese culture and studied Chinese zither (Guqin). He gained the chance to introduce Guqin and other Chinese culture aspects to international visitors with his friends from the Guqin club. After graduation, combining Guqin with his academic knowledge, he hosted an online Quqin concert, attracting over 400,000 views.
Li Manman is a 2017 graduate of the Media Arts and Design (MAD) Programme. According to her mother in an online admission presentation, UIC encouraged students to think independently and enhance their comprehensive, rational, and objective analysis skills.

Scholarship for Students
There are dozens of scholarships in UIC, which encourage students to work on different aspects of themselves, such as their studies, social practices, and whole-person development.
English teaching environment
Most first-year students could adapt to the English teaching environment after participating in intensive English courses and English Clubs of English Enhancement Programme (EEP), provided by the English Language Centre (ELC). EEP commits to immersing first-year students in the English linguistic and cultural atmosphere.

Transferring programme after entering UIC
Based on students' principle of respect, UIC's inter-programme transfer allows students to apply to change their current studying programme to a new one at the end of their first-year students year. Applicants who fulfil the requirements of UIC general rules would be allowed to change their study programmes.
Graduate destinations
Tens of thousands of outstanding talents have graduated from UIC and made a good performance in their careers. 70% of UIC graduates went abroad for further study in Europe, the United States, Australia, Asia and other countries or areas. In 2020, UIC graduates' further study rate reached 72%, in which 74.4% were admitted to the QS World's Top 100 universities.
