UICers share internship experiences

Doing internships is regarded as one of the most effective ways to accumulate extracurricular knowledge and skills. For many UIC students, practising in leading companies and institutes is vital in their colourful four-year study life.

Zeng Zishu is from UIC’s Accounting programme. After winning good grades in competitions at provincial and national levels, Zeng chose to work as an intern at PwC for more experience. She said that it enabled her to put what she learned at school into practice while giving her new inspiration for her final year project (FYP).

Huang Xin is from UIC’s Cinema and Television programme, and the expertise that she accumulated at UIC and her practice in a student film crew helped her acquire an internship offer from Youku. During the internship, Huang acted as a production assistant and script supervisor in a crew, and she said she had a better understanding of the film industry.

Lian Jiangning is from UIC’s Public Relations and Advertising programme and had joined Saatchi & Saatchi as an Account Executive intern. The English proficiency and professional knowledge about public relations that she accumulated at UIC significantly increased her working efficiency. She said thanks to the internship, she now has a more precise plan for her future.

Tang Guoguo is from UIC’s Media and Communication Studies programme, and she accepted an internship offer from GDTV. Tang was responsible for show filming and promotion. She said she had better digested the knowledge she learned from school through practice, especially from the two courses: Photojournalism and Foundations of News and Feature Reporting.

Wu Kunchi is also from UIC’s Media and Communication Studies programme. Wu used to work at the China Business Journal and the Southern Metropolis Daily during his internships. He thought that working for newspapers not only demands professionalism in journalism but also imparts solid skills and creativity to one.

Chen Jingwen is from UIC’s Financial Mathematics programme, and she harvested five internship experiences in four years, including the Avic Securities and Guotai Junan. Wu said the experiences had broadened her eyesight and strengthened her multiple abilities and skills while polishing her profile.

Zhang Wenbo is from UIC’s Applied Psychology programme, and his interest in online education led him to start his internship at a technology firm named ForChange. He was assigned to handle online course delivery and marketing, and he said that studying at UIC had helped him stay active-thinking and positive when facing pressure.
