Latest issue of Innovative Teaching and Learning published

A new issue (Vol. 4, No.1) of the international scholarly journal, Innovative Teaching and Learning (ITL), has been published.

Founded by UIC and published semi-annually by Global Science Press in Hong Kong, ITL (ISSN 2709-2917 print; ISSN 2709-2291 online) aims to promote teaching and learning in higher education through empirical and review studies as well as teaching practices.

This issue contains five high-quality articles addressing a wide range of vital topics in higher education, focusing on a new conception of liberal arts in applied mathematics to adapt to social development, methods to teach empathy and reflexivity through general education courses, using virtual simulation platform to improve students' performance in electronic circuit designs, enhancing team collaboration through online peer assessment, and the challenges of teaching mathematical proofs to first-year undergraduates.

Content of the newly published Innovative Teaching and Learning (Vol. 4, No.1)

The authors come from diverse backgrounds and disciplines including Chinese mainland, New Zealand and Hong Kong SAR. Their affiliated institutions include Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai, University of Canterbury, Chinese University of Hong Kong, BNU-HKBU United International College, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Te Pūnaha Matatini, etc.

With rigorous assessment, the average review time is around three months. External reviewers take up 80% of the total number. Their institutions cover elite universities and high-tech companies, including University of California, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Clemson University, Oklahoma City University, Manhattan College, Sun Yat-sen University and more.

Professor Zhi Chen, an internationally acclaimed scholar, researcher in Chinese Studies, and Provost of UIC, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ITL. Dr Yi-Lung Kuo, an Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning at UIC, is the Managing Editor. Advisory Editorial Board members include Professor Jianhua Lin (Peking University), Dr Xin Lu (China's Ministry of Education), and Professor Tao Tang (President of UIC).
